Mom's Chocolate Fudge 2 cup sugar 1/4 cup milk 1/4 cup evaporated milk 1 stick butter, cut into small pieces 1 tsp vanilla extract 1/2 cup cocoa, put through a sieve Put sugar and both milks in heavy pan. Stir over low-med heat until mixture boils. Add butter. Stir until melted. Bring back to boiling and keep at low boil, stirring constantly with wooden spoon until soft ball stage (5-7 minutes). A few drops of mixture dropped in a cup of cold water should hold its shape but be malleable when rolled between fingers. Do not ever cook! Stir in cocoa and vanilla extract. Beat until mixture becomes thick and somewhat firm. Add nuts and pour into buttered 8x8" pan. [Allow to cool]
